Clinics for the Developing Surfer to Elite Paddler & Everything in Between...

SUP
SUP clinics are separated into either surfing, race board paddling or downwind - Carbis bay, St'Ives provides our base where we are able to access the best conditions. You can book your clinic below.

SUP Surfing

Whether new to SUP surfing or you want to develop specific skills we have the surf spots to bring your surfing forward in leaps and bounds. This part of Cornwall is blessed with a multitude of breaks with ease of access to ideal conditions on the North and South coast. Surf spots are selected to provide you with the most suitable conditions for your current level of surfing, the objective for that clinic and to minimise crowds.  In fact during the summer months when the country roads are clogged we may well access breaks from our boat!

We can challenge your water skills helping you to to developing better bottom turns, how to effectively use the paddle both backside and forehand, as well tips and tricks of how to negotiate beach breaks on bigger days.

Race Board

We understand that making the transition from predominantly flat water paddling to out in the open ocean can be daunting and at times frustrating. Our goal is to help you make this transition from flat water battler to gliding down ocean swells with ease – our ethos is to share our combined knowledge to help develop both confidence and skills in a safe but challenging environment. And where better than at the heart of open water SUP paddling in the UK, at the Ocean Sports Centre in Carbis Bay.

Race board clinics focus upon skill and technical development from fine tuning key phases of stroke mechanics using innovative coaching practices to building confidence in rougher water.  Establish how different forward strokes can help with dealing with cross winds, use of rail work when washing riding other boards and subtle tips and tricks negotiating buoy turns and working within a train.

"it was so much fun, I didn't realise how technical it was getting the board off the beach...I've gone from rolling around in the surf to actually getting through the waves with speed...its given me so much more confidence in these type of conditions..."

Downwind

Downwind is the most fun that can be had on any craft and none more so than on a SUP. Despite this, paddling downwind can be immensely frustrating particularly as others seem to effortlessly slip by, constantly missing the ‘right’ bump or slewing sideways, stalling and falling off on bigger days.

Having spent a lifetime on the Ocean salt water is almost part of our DNA now – constantly honing skills and developing new coaching methods to help demystify the art of downwind paddling.

We will help you recognise the right swell or bump to go for; when to paddle hard and when to ease off. Ultimately we want to get you onto the faster moving lumps of open ocean swell with the least amount of effort. The aim, is to paddle confidently with correct technique, negotiate swells and above all be safe.
